Sneak Peek | "Science and Innovation China" Preview for May 12, 2025: Activating the Growth of All Things with the Power of Innovation
Date:2025-05-08 Redact:WBL

With the growing awareness of national health, the health sector has garnered widespread attention. To achieve the "health dream" for all, promote reproductive and life health, improve population quality, and accelerate social civilization construction, the country encourages enterprises to use technological innovation as the core driving force. Various enterprises are actively responding, leveraging their professional advantages and innovative thinking to accelerate the landing of technological achievements and inject strong momentum into the nation's high-quality development.

In the upcoming episode of Science and Innovation China on May 12, 2025, the large documentary titled "Activating the Growth of All Things with the Power of Innovation,” will focus on WBL Medical Group, a leader in the field of urology health. Since its founding, WBL has adhered to the principle of “technology for the people, innovation for application,” dedicating itself to applying cutting-edge technology to clinical treatment. As the original developer and promoter of Low Intensity Pulsed Ultrasound (LIPUS) technology, WBL has spent 15 years overcoming technical challenges, successfully filling a gap in China’s non-drug, non-invasive male health enhancement technology field. This technology breaks the limitations of traditional drug dependence and surgical treatment paths, providing a new treatment option with the advantages of “precision, safety, and non-invasiveness.”

The development of LIPUS technology was initiated by Chinese Academy of Engineering Academician Guo Yinglu and promoted through international collaboration with Professor Fu-Tai Lu and Professor Gui-Ting Lin from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), and Professor Zhong-Cheng Xin’s team from Peking University First Hospital. After years of cross-border cooperation and research, they identified the optimal parameters for LIPUS treatment, including frequency, pulse intensity, and emission mode, establishing a complete theoretical mechanism and technical platform. Meanwhile, the First Affiliated Hospital of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, led by Professors Shu-Jie Xia and Zheng Li, initiated the first multi-center, randomized controlled clinical study on LIPUS in China, systematically verifying the effectiveness and safety of LIPUS in functional rehabilitation with different treatment frequencies, providing strong support for the standardization of this technology and guideline development.

The core breakthrough of LIPUS lies in its “mechanical force biological chain” mechanism: by setting the frequency of ultrasound pulses, it non-invasively activates dormant endogenous stem cells within the body, promoting the repair and regeneration of nerve, blood vessel, and smooth muscle cells, thereby improving the function of deep tissues. This therapy avoids the side effects of drugs and the risks of surgery, and is being seen as an important direction for future rehabilitation treatments.
