Two Conferences Conclude in Nanjing
Forging Ahead in the 15th Five-Year Plan · Building a New Landscape for Men's Health
OCTOBER 17-18
Nanjing · Taikang Xianlin Drum Tower Hospital
Held concurrently by the Chinese Non-Government Medical Institutions Association and the Jiangsu Social-Run Medical Institutions Association
Nanjing welcomed a gathering of distinguished experts this autumn. On October 17-18, 2026, the 2026 Annual Academic Conference of the Andrology and Men's Health Committee of the Chinese Non-Government Medical Institutions Association and the Third Second Plenary Committee Meeting, together with the Second Annual Academic Conference of the Men's Health Committee of the Jiangsu Social-Run Medical Institutions Association, were successfully held at Taikang Xianlin Drum Tower Hospital in Nanjing.
Under the theme "Forging Ahead in the 15th Five-Year Plan, Pursuing Innovation, and Building a New Landscape for Men's Health," the conference coincided with the 10th anniversary of the committee. As an exhibitor, WBL Medical Group presented three devices throughout the event: the LIPUS low-intensity pulsed ultrasound therapeutic device (Model B), the Extracorporeal Pulsed-Ultrasound Pelvic-Floor Therapeutic Platform, and the Penile Rigidity Measurement Device (JH-ED1100), joining experts and scholars from across the country in witnessing this academic event.

Opening Ceremony · Charting the Future at a Ten-Year Milestone

Opening Ceremony · Taikang Xianlin Drum Tower Hospital
Forging ahead in the 15th Five-Year Plan · Marking the committee's 10th anniversary
On the morning of October 17, the opening ceremony was held. In a video message, Academician Guo Yinglu of the Chinese Academy of Engineering reviewed the committee's development over more than a decade and encouraged andrologists nationwide to continue advancing the standardized and professional development of the discipline.
During the conference, participants exchanged views on the standardized development of andrology and men's health in non-government medical institutions, the building of diagnostic and treatment pathways, and the integration of academia and industry, creating a strong academic atmosphere.

Academic Session · The "Shuguang Experience" of LIPUS plus TCM External Therapy

Professor Zhai Xinyu Delivering the Thematic Report
A Preliminary Exploration of LIPUS Combined with Shugan Fuyang Yiwei Patch in Treating Mild-to-Moderate ED of the Liver-Qi Stagnation Type
During the conference, Professor Zhai Xinyu of the Department of Urology at Shuguang Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine delivered a thematic report, sharing the hospital's latest exploration in integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine.
Professor Zhai noted that China has a large population of ED patients, yet only about one in ten actually seeks medical care. Conventional treatment pathways have clinical limitations, including suboptimal maintenance of efficacy, adverse reactions, cardiovascular contraindications, traumatic side effects, and a lack of reparative effects. Patients with liver-qi stagnation-type ED are also prone to resistance and anxiety.
To address these issues, the report proposed a new treatment concept: "local plus systemic, non-invasive plus drug-free." On one hand, WBL LIPUS, a non-invasive and repeatable physical therapy, achieves "local repair" through the mechanical biological effects of pulsed ultrasound, promoting angiogenesis and endothelial protection, smooth muscle protection and anti-fibrosis, and nerve repair and regeneration. Its efficacy and safety have been validated in multiple clinical studies and it is explicitly recommended in the Chinese Expert Consensus on Low-Intensity Pulsed Ultrasound (LIPUS) for Erectile Dysfunction. On the other hand, the Shugan Fuyang Yiwei Patch provides "systemic regulation" based on syndrome differentiation, combining internal and external treatment.

The single-center observation protocol at Shuguang Hospital consisted of LIPUS treatment applied to both corpora cavernosa and the glans for 5 minutes per session, twice weekly for 8 weeks, along with daily application of the Yiwei Patch for 8 consecutive weeks.
Preliminary data reported at the conference showed that among 63 patients with liver-qi stagnation-type ED, the IIEF-5 score rose from 13.71 before treatment to 22.62, and the proportion of patients with EHS grade 4 increased from 66.7% at week 4 to 76.8% at week 8. Professor Zhai emphasized that this was a preliminary exploration and that the conclusions require further validation with larger samples and longer follow-up.

Monitoring method: Nocturnal penile tumescence and rigidity (NPTR) monitoring
Device: WBL Penile Rigidity Measurement Device (JH-ED1100)
The report also introduced the diagnostic pathway for ED typing: NPTR monitoring with the WBL penile rigidity measurement device generates a nocturnal erection test report, helping clinicians distinguish psychogenic from organic ED and providing an objective basis for selecting subsequent treatment plans.

The report concluded that LIPUS combined with the Shugan Fuyang Yiwei Patch may offer a safe, non-invasive and reproducible comprehensive treatment paradigm for mild-to-moderate ED of the liver-qi stagnation type. Combining local repair with systemic regulation, it is well accepted and tolerated by patients, and its standardized protocol facilitates adoption in outpatient settings.

The ED Treatment Cabin became a focal point
Beyond the conference hall, the WBL booth also drew strong interest. The "ED Treatment Cabin," built around the WBL LIPUS therapeutic device (Model B), became a focal point, featuring an independent treatment space, an immersive VR experience, and a LIPUS non-invasive treatment console. Many experts stopped to try it out, and those who sat inside gave positive feedback on the "non-invasive and repeatable" approach.

Live demonstrations of the penile rigidity measurement device also attracted a large audience. Its objective, quantified nocturnal erection data echoed Professor Zhai's "typing first" clinical pathway. The extracorporeal pulsed-ultrasound pelvic-floor therapeutic platform likewise drew considerable interest from experts focused on non-invasive diagnosis and treatment of pelvic-floor disorders, who asked in detail about the technology and its clinical implementation.
Over the three-day conference, the WBL team held in-depth exchanges with andrology peers from across the country and gathered extensive frontline clinical feedback, which will guide WBL's continued product refinement and clinical service.

About WBL LIPUS
The low-intensity pulsed ultrasound technology behind WBL LIPUS was initiated and advocated by Academician Guo Yinglu of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. It was developed through years of transnational collaboration with the teams of Professors Lu Futa (Tom Lue) and Lin Guiting at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), and Professor Xin Zhongcheng at Peking University First Hospital.
WBL products now cover diverse clinical scenarios including erectile dysfunction and male pelvic floor conditions, and are used in a number of tertiary hospitals. Multiple related research findings have been incorporated into domestic expert consensuses and academic monographs. WBL's technology has been featured on CCTV-12's "Sci-Tech China" program, and its product design won the international IDEA Award.
