The 17th Maternal and Child Health Development Conference, themed “Warm Services: Making Maternal and Child Health More Accessible and Higher Quality”, was hosted by the China Maternal and Child Health Association (CMCHA) and organised by the Sichuan Provincial Maternal and Child Health Association, Sichuan Provincial Maternal and Child Health Hospital and Chengdu Women's and Children's Central Hospital, with support from UNFPA and UNICEF.
The programme covered women's health across the life course, birth defect prevention, gynaecological endocrinology, new AI-assisted care technologies, and gynaecological urology and pelvic floor reconstruction. Gynaecological urology and pelvic floor reconstruction was one of the officially designated sub-venue tracks, reflecting the growing attention pelvic floor topics receive in maternal and child health.

WBL's booth was D06, located in the third-floor exhibition area next to the courtyard. The booth displayed LIPUS equipment, technical materials and summaries of recent clinical studies, with technical staff on site for demonstrations and explanations of the mechanism, treatment procedure and scope of application.
▲Figure 3 | WBL Booth D06 in full view During the three-day conference, visitors were mainly clinicians in obstetrics and gynaecology, gynaecological urology and pelvic floor-related specialties. Discussions focused on three areas: the mechanism of action and treatment parameters of LIPUS, the arrangement of a single session and a full course, and how the technology relates to existing treatment options in their departments.
▲Figure 4 | Maternal and child health leaders at Booth D06 with the head of WBL For physicians encountering the technology for the first time, a live demonstration was more intuitive than printed materials. Demonstrations covered the operating procedure, the treatment probe and parameter settings, and explained treatment sites, session frequency and precautions. Questions and suggestions raised in clinical practice will be reviewed item by item after the conference.

WBL LIPUS (low-intensity pulsed ultrasound) is a physical therapy technology advocated by Academician Guo Yinglu. WBL has conducted long-term industry-academia-research collaboration with the team of Professor Tom Lue at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), Professor Xin Zhongcheng and other experts, completing technology transfer and product development. The equipment is now in use at a number of tertiary and prefecture-level hospitals in China and has been installed at Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital in Thailand. The product received the 2025 IDEA International Design Award, and the company was featured in CCTV's “Sci-Tech China” programme for this technology.
▲Figure 7 | Delegates experiencing the LIPUS device In terms of clinical evidence, the team of Professor Lü Bodong at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine, together with Pinghu First People's Hospital and others, conducted a prospective randomised controlled trial comparing WBL LIPUS head-to-head with tamsulosin sustained-release capsules in type IIIb chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS). The results were published in Frontiers in Reproductive Health (Volume 7, 2025) in December 2025.
The study enrolled 65 patients. The WBL LIPUS group (n=35) received treatment twice a week for about 20 minutes per session, 8 sessions over 4 weeks. After 4 weeks, pelvic pain scores fell from 11.26 to 5.60, a mean reduction of 5.66 points;the tamsulosin group fell by 3.64 points (P<0.05). No severe adverse events requiring interruption of treatment occurred in either group.
This exhibition was a systematic presentation of WBL LIPUS technology to the maternal and child health field. The conference designated gynaecological urology and pelvic floor reconstruction as an official sub-venue track, consistent with the company's plan to explore LIPUS applications in women's pelvic floor health.
▲Figure 8 | The WBL team at the exhibition Going forward, the company will continue to advance clinical research and collaboration on LIPUS in pelvic floor-related fields, and to strengthen clinical training and support. Our thanks to every expert and colleague who visited Booth D06 during the conference.
