Recently, the 1st Bohai Rim Urology Academic Conference and the 6th Haihe Symposium on Reproductive and Sexual Medicine drew to a successful close in Tianjin. Jointly hosted by the Tianjin Association of Integrative Chinese and Western Medicine, the Beijing Health Promotion Association and the Beijing Zhongjianlian Health Service Promotion Center, the conference convened leading experts and scholars in urology, reproductive medicine and sexual medicine across the Bohai Rim region, conducting in-depth discussions on cutting-edge diagnostic and therapeutic technologies, clinical applications and academic research in andrology and urology.

At the opening ceremony, Professor Niu Yuanjie of Tianjin Medical University General Hospital and Professor Xin Zhongcheng of the Second Hospital of Tianjin Medical University successively delivered opening addresses. Professor Xin Zhongcheng of the Second Hospital of Tianjin Medical University delivered a featured lecture at the plenary session. Focusing on the progress of micro-energy medicine in clinical application, he delivered an in-depth exposition on the technological merits and clinical value of domestically developed WBL Low-Intensity Pulsed Ultrasound (LIPUS), offering an innovative non-invasive diagnostic and therapeutic paradigm for refractory andrological pelvic-floor disorders such as chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS).


Professor Xin systematically reviewed the developmental trajectory of micro-energy technologies in andrology, noting that domestic non-invasive andrological diagnosis and treatment had long been constrained by imported technologies with limited clinical applicability. In 2014, WBL's independently developed LIPUS achieved a core technological breakthrough and was formally introduced into andrological clinical practice, breaking the foreign technological monopoly and ushering in a domestically driven innovation in micro-energy andrological care.

The Group's WBL LIPUS Extracorporeal Pulsed-Ultrasound Pelvic-Floor Therapeutic Platform is China's first dedicated extracorporeal ultrasound device for chronic inflammation and chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS). WBL LIPUS technology was initiated and advocated by Academician Guo Yinglu of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. Through years of transnational collaborative research and development with the team of Professors Fu-Kay (Frank) Liu and Tom Lue at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) in the United States, together with the team of Professor Xin Zhongcheng at Peking University First Hospital, the research group identified optimal parameter combinations—frequency, pulse intensity and emission mode—and established a foundational R&D system. After years of clinical translation and iterative refinement, WBL LIPUS has been formally applied in andrological clinical practice, breaking the long-standing monopoly of imported technologies in the domestic micro-energy andrology field and providing robust technical support for the standardised application of micro-energy medicine in China.

Technical Principle
The core mechanism of the WBL LIPUS Low-Intensity Pulsed-Ultrasound ED Therapeutic Platform is the application of low-energy pulsed ultrasound (acoustic intensity 50–350 mW/cm²) to penile cavernous tissue.
